Suggested Ways to Use Soap
So how do I go about using the soap? Is there a special technique?Great question! First of all, consult with your doctor and always follow your doctor’s directions. Our sulfur soaps are best used when they’ve been activated by soaking in warm water for at least 20 seconds. This brings the soap into its colloidal emulsive state, helping soften the soap and build a creamy lather for application.
The activated soap can then be applied either by lathering, or for smaller surface dermal spots, dabbing the softened soap directly on either wet or unwet skin to the target skin zone.
Allow the suds to soak before rinsing. Alternatively, people who dab the softened soap without lathering say that they just leave it on over time on a blemish or other condition.
After rinsing, you may repeat as necessary. The final rinse may be either a full rinse, or a partial rinse by pat drying with a wet towel, allowing some of the sulfur soap suds to remain.
I see that there’s something called a Suds Jar that is offered. What’s that for? And is it necessary?
The Suds Jar is a storage vessel, and also provides a nice way to remember to soak the soap by just filling up the vessel with warm water prior to use. When finished, dry out the Suds Jar and you may store your soap inside. It’s not necessary to have a Suds Jar. It’s offered for your convenience. You can purchase our soaps with or without Suds Jar. Most people would use just one, and then place their refills inside. And we hear that some people re-use them for other purposes unrelated to our soap! It’s a nifty sized plastic jar with a nice lid.
Will this soap over dry my skin?
Well, the answer to this question is relative! Everyone is different - our skin mantle pH, diet, physical activities (how much we sweat), the amount of sun exposure we receive, general skin health, and a whole list of other variables.
If you do find that it is over drying, some options are to discontinue use as it may not be for you, or use of a moisturizer skin conditioner, or reduced soap use - maybe not using it so often is the way. That’s a reason to consult a medical professional like a dermatologist, as they can help you find what’s best for you.

What happens if I don’t activate the soap. and not let it soak before use?
You’ll probably find that it’s kind of lather flat, until it’s properly wetted.

Tell me more about the soap. What’s special about it?First of all, we must say that we take a lot of care and pride in our soap craft, and other skin care products that we make. That’s a fancy way of saying we use science and technology to the max, and a combination of special ways that’s all our own!
OK, with all that said, back to the question! First, our soaps are 10% colloidal sulfur. There aren’t too many 10% sulfur soaps on the market anywhere in the world. Compare and see. And the best we can tell, we are the only provider of fragrance free 10% sulfur soap. Our processes and machinery are so advanced utilizing pressure and temperature stage compounding, that we don’t have to mask our soap with perfumes or fragrances! That’s how pure it is. Did you know that sulfur is actually odorless in its pure form? It’s only when it is compounded with other elements or other compounds, that the distinctive ‘rotten egg’ odor is often created. And it most often does. It’s no wonder why other brands would use fragrance, and/or lessen the amount of sulfur in the soap! Note also that our soap is actual soap, and not a glycerin bar.
We get lots of feedback that our sulfur soap is very light smelling compared to other brands. That is a wonderful compliment to us, and is a testimony to our proprietary processes. Pure and clean. Advanced. Technology at its best to bring our Nature’s sulfur goodness.
What’s the difference between your traditional 10% sulfur soap, and SAL3?
Both soaps contain 10% sulfur. The answer is that the ingredient formulation is the same, except that our trademark brand SAL3 soap also contains 3% salicylic acid. Traditional sulfur soap is naturally keratolytic, and the salicylic acid in SAL3 synergistically enhances this natural quality.
What’s the size of the soap bar?
3.5 ounces, or about 100 grams.
What’s the shelf life?
Stated shelf life is three years. Keep it in a cool (room temperature) environment, enclosed in a jar so that it doesn’t dry out, and it can be stored for a lot longer than that. No worries. Hopefully you use the soap often enougn, that it’s all gone a lot sooner that stated shelf life! 
Do you use any dyes, or colorants?
Nope, it’s all natural - no colorants or dyes. That’s a great question, as it amazes us that some other brands appear to use a dye, whether enhanced yellow, or other color. We’ve actually seen some sulfur soap bars that are blue! What’s up with that???
Skin Conditions 
What kind of skin conditions do people have, who wash with the soap?
Keep in mind that 10% sulfur soap is an ideal antiseptic, anti-fungal and anti-acne soap for many cleansing applications.
So here’s a partial list:
1. As a general hand wash after using the toilet and other personal cleansing habits.
2. Acne - both facial, and body - neck, arms, back, buttock.
3. As a dandruff shampoo. It doesn’t have to a liquid to be a great dandruff soap! And it forms very creamy suds while washing.
4. Keratosis pilarus (KP).
5. Fungal conditions such as forms of Tinea like Tinea Versicolor, toenail & foot fungus, jock itch.
6. Smelly scalp condition - feeding on the oils embedded in hair follicles, the fungus excrement that stays inside is putrid, and causes lots of embarrassment. This condition is commonly passed along when people share combs and brushes.
7. Foul body odors - armpit, body, private pubic zone, and smelly feet ( between the toes, especially)
8. Mites, scabies and other human itches.
9. As a pet shampoo. Fleas on dogs, sarcoptic mange. Horse hoof.
10. And so much more, the list goes on.

Scabies - Mites
Before reviewing frequently asked questions about scabies related wash programs, please watch the following video. It provides a good background about scabies, what it is, the scabies cycle, what causes the itchiness and inflammation scaling marks.
How do you use the soap?
Remember, you’re trying to catch the life cycle of the mite. Just killing the female scabi mites doesn’t do it. The eggs may still remain burrowed in your skin, getting ready to hatch. Plus there may be adults and eggs on bedding, sofas, carpet, car seats, just about anywhere. So your regimen and routine must be thorough. Just because you seem to have it cleared up, does not mean that it may not come back. If an adult mite still in your environs preys on you, the cycle can start all over again. So it’s important to be diligent in your wash routine and expect to get use to it, until you are confident that you and your environment are rid of the mites.
Your doctor has probably prescribed permethrin cream for you, and given you instructions. Ask your doctor about 10% sulfur soap wash. You may show your doctor this information, while reviewing the scabies female burrowing/egg life cycle & its duration, identifying other family or work members who may be affected, your work and home environments, cleaning routine, both your body and effects on your enviro-belongings such as bedding, carpet, car, sofa, and garments.
When using our 10% sulfur soap as a wash, make sure to activate the soap bar following labelled instructions. Soak the bar in warm water for at least 20 seconds before directly applying to wetted skin and scalp. Build a creamy emulsion and let soak, before rinsing or for more effect, pat dry with a wet towel instead of a full rinse. Twice a day.

rst timers: Best way to develop and see for yourself the creamy emulsion is to apply it to your scalp first. Rub into wetted hair with shower lightly sprinkling. Continue rubbing until the creamy suds are formed. Keep on rubbing in, and you’ll build an amazing creamy lather. That’s the goal with the soap, and let it soak in. You can take that lather directly to your body too, while rubbing the soap throughout your skin on your body. This is no ordinary simple soap. It is a 10% sulfur colloidal system, and when you activate the bar, it does wonders.
You’re trying to catch the egg cycle, so it’s important to keep up with the program. Once again, follow your doctor’s directions. Remember that those critters many times are all over bedding, sofas, carpets, so when you are scabies free, lots of people keep up with the soap routine for at least another 4-6 weeks to make sure they’ve knocked out the cycle for good.

Will the soap suds kill the mite eggs?
Great question, and the answer is no. That’s a reason it is important to keep the regimen going. When the eggs hatch, you want to make sure your cleaning program with sulfur suds continues. When the cycle is broken, you’ll find relief (finally!). But don’t let your guard down. Keep washing, and do your best to clean, clean, clean. And that includes your car, workpl
ace and office also. Any environs habitat that you and others who are affected, should be taken care of.

We want to learn how to make sulfur soaps and other sulfur personal care products. What’s the way to make sulfur soluble like a liquid so we can mix it? How do you make your soap so smooth and not grainy, with such a large 10% of it being sulfur ?
Sulfur is not for novices. Good to know first your science background, and laboratory experience.
Sulfur and compound testing should be done by professionals. Sulfur can be toxic and quite dangerous in certain lab conditions, such as use of common lab methods using carbon disulfide to achieve solubility. Obviously complete commercial techniques are proprietary. There are some good sources to learn more, and gather background strength on the topic, and these are listed below.
Processes utilize proprietary stage temperature and compounding in liquid phase. Prior sulfur grinding to fine mesh in tightly controlled nitrogen purged vessels, followed with ultrasonic sieve retraction.
In small lots, and under supervision of a laboratory specialist with certification, if you have no instruments such as HPLC, simple extraction of sample elemental sulfur with cyclohexane or toluene, filtrate and evaporate the solvent under laboratory hood, always with proper ventilation. The residue will be S8 which can be determined gravimetrically. Alternatively, determine its concentration in the organic phase by UV spectroscopy. If you are looking to completely dissolve sulfur in a laboratory secure environment, for future batch representations, a chemist can completely dissolve a sample by refluxing in aqua regia (conc. HCl/HNO3 3/1, v/v) or in hydrothermal conditions with the same reagent. This should oxidize and solubilize everything, including sulfur to sulfate (confirm procedure with a sample of pure sulfur).
